The moon has been watching us for a very long time.

She has watched wishes whispered into darkness, tides rise and retreat, lovers meet beneath her light, candles burn low, seasons change, and generations of dreamers look upward and wonder whether something might be looking back.

Moonbound: 100 Haiku of Moonlight, Magick, & Mystery is Michelle Hoffmann’s collection of one hundred brief journeys into that mysterious space between moonlight and imagination.

Within these poems, the moon is more than something hanging in the night sky. She becomes a witness, a confidante, a keeper of memories and secrets, and occasionally a quiet accomplice to a little magick.

Candles bow when she enters the room. Salt circles glow beneath her light. Owls debate her true purpose. Fog swallows her and somehow makes the darkness brighter. Old scars become silver ink. The sea answers her ancient pull, and somewhere beneath the full moon, we may discover that we are a little more than we thought we were.

Written in the spare, intimate form of haiku, each poem captures a single moment, image, question, or feeling before releasing it back into the night.

Some are peaceful. Others are mysterious. A few wander toward the strange. Together they explore nature, memory, magick, longing, transformation, darkness, and the peculiar relationship human beings have always had with that pale light above us.

This is a book meant to be wandered through.

Read a poem beneath the full moon. Open to a random page before bed. Keep it beside a candle or on the nightstand. Return to a favorite when the world becomes too loud and you need something quieter.

You don’t have to believe in magick to feel something when moonlight spills through the window.

You only have to notice.
