What happens when a curious pink axolotl and a chocolate tabby cat decide to explore the story behind one of the world’s most beloved foods?

You get Axol & Mocha: The Cacao Chronicles.

Axol and Mocha are back, and this time their adventure begins with a simple question: Where did chocolate really come from?

From their cozy corner at Michelle’s Mexican Mocha Café™, the two friends set out to discover the long and remarkable story of cacao. Their journey takes them far beyond a modern cup of mocha and into a world of ancient cities, tropical cacao groves, old traditions, forgotten stories, and the people who treasured cacao long before chocolate bars ever existed.

Along the way, Axol and Mocha discover that cacao has always been much more than something sweet.

It has been a drink, a crop, a trade good, a tradition, a symbol of status, and an important part of cultures stretching back through centuries of history. Every cacao pod carries a story, and Axol and Mocha are determined to follow those stories wherever they lead.

Of course, no expedition with these two goes entirely according to plan.

Mocha approaches history with the natural confidence of a cat who assumes everything interesting was probably placed there for him to inspect. Axol is quieter and endlessly curious, noticing the little details that often lead them toward the next discovery. Together, they turn history into an adventure filled with humor, wonder, friendship, and plenty of cacao.

The Cacao Chronicles invites readers to look beyond chocolate and discover the plant, people, places, and traditions behind it.

It is a celebration of curiosity and the idea that history becomes much more interesting when we stop thinking of it as a collection of dates and begin seeing it as a collection of stories.

And sometimes the best way to discover those stories is with a good friend beside you and a warm mug waiting at the end of the journey.
